Hi :D!
I downloaded minecraft 1.0.0 one week ago :p But i realized that there are some updates and i'd like to have them!
I always play offline, because i didn't buy the game (I know, I should...). I really don't want to loose my world!
Is there a way I can download the updates (minecraft 1.2.5) without losing it?
Thanks a lot! :)
(sorry for my english :) )
Ansver:
Go to appdata or %appdata% depending on what os your running, and replace minecraft.jar in the bin folder with the free snapshots that you can download from mojang.com
Also get the minecraft_server.jar or else it wont work. IDK if you can get much mods but maybe when the full 1.3 comes out there will be more. Most texturepacks support up to 12w23b right now

You can go into your .minecraft folder and back up your saves if you're afraid of losing them. I only know how to do this on windows. What I do is hold the key with the windows icon, and hit R on they keyboard. It should say app data, then just hit ok. It will show you a folder with a bunch of other folders in it, find the one that says .minecraft. In that folder you should see another folder called saves. Your worlds will be in there. Just make a copy of that folder and put it somewhere on your computer. If that doesn't work I'm sorry, but you might be able to google how to do it. Hope that explains everything you need to know.

If you have a friend that owns minecraft, just borrow the account user and password, log in with it. Then it will ask you if you want to update. Hit yes, then it will update unaffecting your worlds. There will be one minor change to worlds, because of the new height limit. Doors might reverse but that is all.

right click on the icon of minecraft then choose open file location , then go to Minecraft Updater open it
and check force update then enter game
