How do I clean my Minecraft folder?

I used to play Minecraft a lot, but I stopped after I had trouble doing a lot of the technical stuff. Now, I want to start over gain with a clean slate. Is there any way to do this?

go into your bin folder delete everything in there then launch minecraft it will leave you with bassicaly a brand new minecraft
(everything in the bin will be re downloaded but it will all be blank)

Just delete minecraft on your computer and redownload it and get the minecraft.jar file from their and replace it with the original one. Make sure to make a copy of the saves folder in .minecraft before you delete.
