Get at least 8 Gigabytes of RAM (Random Access Memory), get a GTX 680, upgrade you processor to an i7 2700k and overclock the heck out of it. (Also overclock the GTX graphics card). Be sure to have a good cooling fan and a sufficient Power Supply Unit(PSU). Then you should be able to play minecraft well!
Get more RAM, make sure your processor is at LEAST dual core and has 2+Ghz speed and 2+ GB RAM. Make sure your Graphics card is decent. Also try lowering your settings. It sounds like you have a bad computer if it glitches (probably lag not a glitch) and the animal sounds are messed up. Make sure you have nothing open, especially excess processes. Try restarting your computer, cleaning out unused programs of your computer, update your Java, and De-fragment your hard-drive if it needs it (START->Search For Disk Defragmentor)
Hope this helps! If you can't get Minecraft running you could always have Terraria. IT takes up less system resources and both are good in different ways. (Minecraft is all about building while Terraria is great with an adventure/dungeon crawler focus)

Delete any unnecessary things on your computer,
Try changing your render distance to tiny
Increase your RAM
Try playing with no other things open, just minecraft open
Reinstall minecraft ( this helped me first time i couldnt play at all )
